If you have spent any time managing energy across commercial facilities, you already know the truth: deploying a reliable commercial energy monitoring system gets complicated fast. The hard part is never installing the meters — it is getting all that data into one place your operations team can actually trust and use. The ADM Director solves exactly that: it is a self-hosted data acquisition and visualization platform that pulls any Modbus, MQTT or eGauge meter into one clean, on-premises portal, lets you visualize and bill on it, and charges no monthly cloud fees.

The Reality of the Field: Data Friction

Walk into a site and you find five eGauge meters, each with its own login. Another site mixes an eGauge, an Elkor MCM, a few ADM meters, and a handful of other devices all speaking completely different protocols. The meters are installed and working — but the data is scattered across half a dozen disconnected workflows.

In the past, getting to actionable, real-time monitoring meant one of two bad options:

  • Pay steep monthly subscription fees for cloud-based energy monitoring software, or
  • Spend hours manually exporting CSV files and stitching them together in Excel.

Over the last year we worked with client after client frustrated by this exact problem. They had multiple meters that simply refused to communicate with each other. Worse, many facility managers did not want their operational data forced onto someone else’s cloud — and they could not justify the ongoing subscription drag just to maintain a basic building energy monitoring system.

The system that delivers maximum visibility should not also force you to rent your own data back, month after month.

Building the Solution: The ADM Director

We knew there had to be a better way to handle local data without sacrificing visibility — a kind of universal translator. A local hub that takes different brands and protocols and presents them in one unified dashboard, entirely on-premises.

The result of that year of development is the ADM Director.

It is a self-hosted data acquisition and visualization platform that lets you own your power and energy data outright, with no monthly cloud fees. It eliminates data friction by consolidating multiple meters, brands, and supported communication paths into one simple, self-hosted portal.

What It Actually Does

Instead of logging into five different systems, the ADM Director integrates any Modbus energy meter (Modbus RTU or TCP), MQTT, or eGauge device into a clean, browser-based portal. It runs fully on-premises — an internet connection is completely optional — and your data stays securely inside your local network.

From one self-hosted dashboard, your team can:

  • Visualize consumption graphically across multiple chart types simultaneously — line, bar, and pie — with up to four views side by side.
  • Overlay outside temperature, retrieved automatically for your installation location, to correlate weather with electrical demand.
  • Manage electrical submetering with built-in sub-metering and tenant billing reports.
  • Export to CSV or Excel for any time range.
  • Store data locally for up to 30 years.

Submetering and tenant billing, built in

Collecting data is only half the job. The Director turns it into bills directly: create a bill from one or more connected meters, give each its own pricing structure or share a single one, and hand a tenant a clean, itemized statement.

One login for every site

When a Director is allowed to reach the internet, it appears in the optional Aim Dynamics fleet portal. From a single login you see every Director you own, check online/offline status at a glance, and open any device’s local portal in one click — no individual passwords to remember.

Configurations for the Real World

We designed the ADM Director to be practical for actual field installs. It is available as a standalone unit for retrofitting existing networks, and as pre-wired, UL508A-certified enclosures that make single-point installation seamless. Depending on your site, you can deploy:

ADM-DIR-ADM

A pre-wired enclosure pairing the ADM Director with an Aim Dynamics ADM three-phase meter — a complete, single-point monitoring solution.

ADM-DIR-ADM enclosure: ADM Director pre-wired with an Aim Dynamics three-phase meter

ADM-DIR-EG15

A pre-wired enclosure pairing the ADM Director with an eGauge EG4015 meter — use the Director’s portal as a unified front-end for one or many eGauges.

ADM-DIR-EG15 enclosure: ADM Director pre-wired with an eGauge EG4015 meter

ADM-DIR-MCM

A pre-wired enclosure pairing the ADM Director with an Elkor MCM multi-circuit meter — ideal for high-channel-count metering with consolidated visualization.

ADM-DIR-MCM enclosure: ADM Director pre-wired with an Elkor MCM multi-circuit meter

Each enclosure is a 12” × 10” × 6” UL508A-certified unit, wired for either 120/208 V or 277/480 V. The standalone ADM-DIR is the right call when meters are already in place and you just need on-premises visualization, submetering billing, and export — with no monthly cloud fees.

Stop Renting Your Data

Collecting data is only half the job. The other half is turning it into an actionable decision tool without getting bled dry by recurring software costs. Your energy data should not be scattered across disconnected workflows, and you should not have to pay a monthly ransom to view your own consumption.

If you are dealing with mixed-meter sites — or you just want a robust, subscription-free way to visualize and bill your facility’s energy use — it is time to bring your meters together into one local view.

Field note

The clients who finally relaxed weren’t the ones who bought the fanciest meters — they were the ones who stopped logging into five dashboards to answer one question. On mixed sites the real cost was never the hardware; it was the half-hour every morning spent exporting CSVs and reconciling them in a spreadsheet that nobody fully trusted by Friday. Pulling eGauge, Elkor and ADM meters behind one local portal didn’t add a feature so much as remove a chore — and removing the monthly cloud fee turned “nice to have” into an easy yes for facility managers who are tired of renting access to numbers they already own. If your data lives on-premises and bills itself, monitoring stops being a subscription and starts being an asset.

Frequently asked questions

What is the ADM Director?
The ADM Director is a self-hosted data acquisition and visualization platform — a commercial energy monitoring system that integrates any Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, MQTT or eGauge meter into a single browser-based portal. It runs fully on-premises, so an internet connection is optional and your data stays inside your local network. There are no monthly cloud fees.
Does the ADM Director require an internet connection or a monthly subscription?
No. The Director runs fully on-premises and is functional offline — the internet connection is optional, used only for remote access, outside-temperature data, and the optional fleet portal. There are no subscription fees; you own your power and energy data outright.
Which meters and devices does it support?
Any Modbus RTU or Modbus TCP device, MQTT devices, and eGauge meters. That includes eGauge, Elkor MCM multi-circuit meters, Aim Dynamics ADM three-phase meters, and pulse or non-metering Modbus devices, all consolidated into one unified dashboard.
Can the ADM Director handle tenant submetering and billing?
Yes. It has built-in sub-metering and tenant billing. You can create bills from one or more connected meters, give each bill its own pricing structure or share one, and export the underlying data to CSV or Excel for any time range.
How is my data kept private if there are no cloud fees?
All data is stored locally on the device — up to 30 years of storage — and stays inside your own network. Remote access is secured without firewall changes, port-forwarding, or NAT changes, so you get visibility from anywhere without pushing operational data onto a third-party cloud.
What's the difference between the standalone unit and the pre-wired enclosures?
ADM-DIR is the standalone Director, ideal for retrofits where meters are already installed on the customer's network. The pre-wired, UL508A-certified enclosures bundle the Director with a meter for single-point installation: ADM-DIR-ADM (Aim Dynamics three-phase meter), ADM-DIR-EG15 (eGauge EG4015), and ADM-DIR-MCM (Elkor multi-circuit meter).
Can I see all my sites in one place?
Yes. When a Director is allowed to connect to the internet, it appears in the optional Aim Dynamics fleet portal. From a single login you can see every Director you own, check online/offline status at a glance, and open any device's local portal in one click — no individual passwords to remember.
